Some Scripture Rambles...

An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord's affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world—how she can please her husband. 1 Corinthians 7: 34

I keep reminding myself of this verse. These years of singleness should not be wasted with worldly things. I should be preparing not only to be a good and honorable wife, but focusing on growing my relationship with Christ and learning more about Him and how to please Him. I think that a strong and steady marriage does not just consist with a devoted man and women, but a strong and devoted bond with Jesus. He is the maker of a good solid marriage and He is the joy of a happy marriage.

What do you think we should be doing in our single years before marriage (if God wills.)?

I hope you are having a lovely Saturday!

  1. Wow! What a great post!!
I am always so excited to see young ladies wanting to be active during the single years!
From someone who is single, I would say that the most important thing to do while you are single is to be open to helping where ever you are needed. At home, other sisters houses, the elderly, church or where ever. Just being willing to help is a wonderful ministry! I posted several lists awhile back at delt with this issue. If you would like you can see them by going to www.sharinghislove-laura.blogspot.com and looking under "ministry lists".
Thank you again for posting this!!
    Blessings,
    Laura

  2. Beautiful ponderings.... :)

    As unmarried woman
we have a field of opportunity
    to serve in the Church,
    assist other moms with young
children and comfort as well as nurse the ill.
    The opportunities are endless.

    Developing a servants heart &
homemaking skills~ is honoring to God.

  3. I agree with Laura and Miss Jen. Also, being a servant in the home God has put you in is a very character building pursuit. If you get along well with those under the same roof, you will be that much more prepared for marriage. Helping others outside the home will help you learn to deal with a variety of different circumstances. God is well-pleased with a humble servant.
