Amber Noelle had this video on her blog and I thought I'd post about it too. This video is very thought provoking. It makes me think if traditions I partake in are truly pleasing the Lord. Sometimes I do take Christmas and turn it into a holiday for giving and spending time with family when the real reason that I truly want to take part in it is to celebrate Jesus and meditate on the gift of Grace.

Hello Leah!
ReplyDeleteWhen I had posted this video, my mom & a few blogging friends assured me that there's nothing wrong with presents, giving, & regular traditions. But this video is quite contrary isn't it? Somehow, I really do believe that God wants us to spend time with our families & enjoy this season. But like the video I think we need to focus more on Christ. Now that I think about it, we really need to search the Word about this. Who's right, Mom & friends or this video? I suppose God's word is the way to go. I still have a hard time on what REALLY pleases God, you know?
What are your personal thoughts on this?
Hi Amber!
ReplyDeleteYeah... I agree. I wouldn't say there is necessarily anything wrong with celebrating with family, but when we take it to an extent of stressing out about the holiday we need to look at our motives. I think we can bless others by celebrating and giving gifts.
I agree we should examine the scriptures and pray that God will guide our motives as we go through out the season.
Personally I love Christmas, but I want to look at the holiday with a pure and God centered heart.
This video is an eye opener and I truly think we should be celebrating Christ's birth all the time. I think even though the 25th is not necessarily God's real birth day we can still use the opportunity to celebrate in a godly way.
Thanks Amber I appreciate your thoughts and enjoy talking with you. :-)
Having a beautiful Christmas.
Blessings,
Leah
