Greetings...

Hello there, dear friends!

It has been a while since I have posted I must confess. And I could say that I have been busy,... which is true. But I am sure you are getting sick of that excuse. I do use it quite often.
I have been busy with school work and much of the time studying for my learner's permit knowledge test. My daddy and I bought some study questions online. 1,5oo questions to be exact which the website randomly choose for each 40 question test. I have been doing 4 tests each day and that definitely makes my school work seem to take a lot longer. I have been getting about 75 percent on my tests lately. The guarantee is if you get 5 tests in a row 80 percent or higher you will pass the real drivers test. So I take tests, and wait, and see, and study, answer more questions, until hopefully soon, I will get 80 percent. :D Gulp.

I have been having a little bit of time to sew and sketch, which has been nice. Sketching is especially enjoyable with all of the lovely scenery for inspiration.

Any way, I thought you would be interested to know that I am not forgetting to post. Just been having a bit of a lack of time. :) ( As usual.)

My give away will be coming up quite soon, I hope. Just one more post after this one and then my give away will be posted about. I am almost positive I know what I will give away... Did I mention that I am very slow on deciding? :) I will be posting more often after I take my test.
So don't give up hope. I am still a blogger who almost always is a dedicated blogger.

Yesterday we had the most beautiful weather, and spent much of the day out-of-doors.
We ate our lunch outside and had a lovely day enjoying the first day of spring.

Today is a the first of a new fresh week.

Oatmeal Cookies

Here is a yummy, healthy, recipe that my mom made a couple days ago that I would like to share. I baked them but she actually made them. :)

Great Grandma's Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
The name says it all. :)

You need:

2 cups brown sugar

1 cup shortening or (3/4 cup oil)

2 eggs

1/4 cup milk

1 small tsp. soda mixed with a 1 table spoon of warm water.

2 cups sifted flour

3 cups oatmeal

1 cup chocolate chips

1/2 tsp. salt


Scoop small balls of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet, and bake 325 degrees for about 15-20 minutes.

This recipe can as many cookies as you see from the picture. :)

St. Patrick's Day

We had yummy corn beef and cabbage for dinner.


Today is a day to celebrate St. Patrick and all of the evangelizing that he did in Ireland.

Sunday greetings....

 My skirt is finally done! I got it all finished yesterday, and I was able to wear it to church today.
I am going to wear it to the Daddy Daughter Dance this Friday, I think.


 
I am going to be pretty busy this week with a three day art class, music lessons, baby sitting, our youth volunteer program, and the Daddy Daughter Dance. :)


I hope you had a wonderful Sunday. Our neighbor stayed over yesterday and today, because her Mother was on a business trip, and Abby and Maggie's pen pals who are sisters, visited here for the first time, which was pretty neat. :)


So, I can officially say I have been busy. :)


I will try and post as much as possible this week. Because I know you will probably be wanting that give away soon. :) But my busyness is most likely going to catch up with me!

Ramblings and Craft month

A scarf, I finished.

.....and a couple little fabric appliques and pony tail holder that I don't know what to do with.


Aah.. I love ramblings. They are easy to post, easy to write and easy to think up. (Yes, I love to go with easy.)

March is Craft month which is exciting to me. :) I have about six birthday gifts to make or buy for March and April. So this is a good month for crafts. I have several ideas for gifts all I need is more time on my hands. Maybe a couple more hours in my day would help. HA ha. Like that will happen. :)

My skirt project is at a stand still once again. After many craft store trips to find things for my skirt, right zipper and now our sewing machine has to have a special invisible zipper foot to sew on an invisible zipper. I did tons of searches on Google on where I could get this special foot. (Instead of the plastic kind from Coats that we bought recently.)
I only found this foot on ONE website. My mom bought it on Tuesday and it should get here in a couple of days. Sigh. ( I have to wait that long to keep working on my skirt??) I will probably use it more often when I get more experience sewing skirts, though. :) God is trying to teach me patience through this very slow skirt project. :)

I have also been studying for my knowledge test, to get my learner's permit. My Daddy and I have been reading the driver's manual before bed. And I hope to take the test sometime next week. I really hope I pass! Driving seems really exciting but when I really get behind the wheel I doubt it will be just as easy as it sounds. I can just imagine crashing into something. A mail box, a curb maybe a tree. "Now slowly back up" my Dad will say "Not too fast!" and ......Crash! My Daddy is such a good teacher, so, I doubt I will crash with him in the car. :)


That is about all I have right now to make you listen to. ( Not as long as usual I think.) :D Maybe. I guess not. :)

My 100th post is coming up soon as well! I am going to give away something. Not sure what though. :D

There is a book that I might give away or maybe something home made.

The skirt I am working on. :-)


There is a lovely give away that a Life in a Shoe is hosting, for a $50 gift certificate to Marie Madeline Studio.

I am really excited about it! They sell so many beautiful patterns. Like purses, skirts, and pre-made items as well. This is actually where I got the skirt pattern that I am working on now.
It is a really nice pattern. :-D

(Which by the way I am not done with, for reasons such as broken needles, incorrect invisible zipper foot, wrong zipper, and the list goes on. And, yes this is the first article of clothing I have ever made. I am not giving up hope yet! :-D)

I hope you all are having a lovely Sunday. I know you are probably wondering if I am done with that skirt by now. Unfortunately no. I started it last Sunday and have been working a little on it, each day before bed. I am almost done. But we don't have an invisible zipper foot, for our sewing machine. So, I will hopefully be done with it today. We have been to the craft store several times this week! ;-)

Spring...

.... is in the air!


Flowers are budding, Leaves are growing, the Sun is shining,
and the March birds are singing. Spring is on it's way!

Although I am singing the songs of spring, it is quite cold here in Georgia. It has been in the 30's and 40's. But Spring is still making its way to the trees and flowers. :)

God's world is changing it's colors and giving it's people so much awe at His' beautiful creation.

Wordless Wednesday - Sewing bliss

Cabbage and Hamburger Bake

This simple, easy, and delicious meal, is perfect for busy families.

My mother makes this meal quite often and I cooked it two nights ago.
It is straight forward, southern cooking. Home style with out the style. :)
Here is the recipe, and unfortunately I didn't take any photos of this yummy casserole, that did it justice.


1 head cabbage, shredded

1 lb. hamburger

1 green pepper, diced

1 medium onion, sliced

2 cups cooked rice

1 quart tomato sauce

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steam cabbage until limp; drain.

Fry hamburger until brown. Drain off
excessive grease, then add green pep-per,
onion, and cabbage. Fry lightly.
Place rice on bottom of ungreased
casserole, then add cabbage/hamburger mix.
Pour tomato sauce over it and press down to cover with
the sauce. Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes, add cheese,
then bake for another 10 minutes.
