Hello down there!

Well, I don't know what to say.
I  am shocked.
I am overwhelmed.
I am sad.

Now it might not seem very outrageous to you... but.... my younger sister is taller than ME!!!! Me.... I....the oldest and most grown up, of my siblings, and my sister is taller!!! She is a 1/4 of an inch taller!!! (Maybe more.) How could it get any worse?

Now... I have a couple years ahead of me to grow, but Abby... (Sniffle) could grow taller too...Gulp.

I know, height's not that important. Being 5'2 is a just a little short to my liking and still not that bad, but being shorter than your younger sister hurts...

It's heart breaking being short... Everyone towers over you. You walk on an earth with giants surrounding you. Your trampled by the tall people. People think your eleven or so when your really fifteen!

How will I bear it....................(faints on the floor.) Sob, Sob, Sob!

Okay enough with the drama. Control yourself, Leah!

I'll survive! Have no fear!

I just need to remember that God made me this way. I am the only me, that's like me.
Short or Tall. I am God's creation and the more I want to be tall, the shorter I'll appear.

Just remember shorties of the world, God made you, you!  ;-)

Thanks for listening to my sob story.

Now I'd like to know...

                   How tall your you? :-)

  1. Yay for shorties! Although, I am not one. But yes, I agree with you: God made us the way we are. Small or Tall. Embrace it! I am taller that my sister & she's 6 years older, so don't feel bad!

  2. A towering 5 feet 6 and 1/4 inches (my best guess) and (Yes, me too!) taller than my older sister! :D

  3. I feel your pain, Leah! I'm 5' 6" and my sister (Mia who just posted) is a towering 1/4 of an inch taller than I. I suppose it comes from my dad who's a whopping 6' 3" -- Mia takes after him while I take after my Mom who's 5'4"... :-)

    Blessings,
    Sonja

  4. Haha, I know the feeling. I am the oldest in my family and at 5'0" the shortest. (My brother is eight years younger than me but already two or three inches taller.) At least you have some chance of growing more!

  5. Hi Leah!
I sympathize with you, but in a different way. You see, I am 5'8'', and exactly the same height as my mom. Although I do appreciate my height, it has some disadvantages.
Let me re-phrase one of your paragraphs, my version:
"It's heart breaking being tall. You tower above everyone. You walk on earth with midgets surrounding you." :)
My sister, who is two years younger than me, is only a couple inches shorter. People sometimes mistake us for twins. Family members are starting to comment on her height instead of mine. :) (That's the best part!)
In the end, God made everyone unique, and we need to be content with how He made us, even if we would prefer different. Enjoy being short because being tall isn't everything! (And that comes from a TALL girl!)
    I enjoyed your post! =)
    Blessings,
    ~Annie~
P.S. Sorry for the extremely long comment!

  6. Wow, I am with Annie totally. I'm 5'8" also, and I have to deal with the disadvantages of being tall. Well, it's not anything I stay up at night worrying about, but it does get rather annoying at times. :) My younger sis is only about 4 inches shorter than me, and with 3 years inbetween us, that gap should close quickly and she'll end up taller than me. :(
    Blessings!

  7. I'm actually 5'7", but I wish I was taller! Maybe six foot... :) It was funny, after being taller then my older brother for so long, to suddenly have to look up, to look at him in the eye! Oh well...

I don't know if you've seen it or not, but here is the link to a post I did in January. Although it's about my brothers, I thought you still might enjoy reading it. :)http://kelsianne.blogspot.com/2010/01/my-thoughts-on-growing-brothers.html

God Bless Leah! Although you might not stand out because of height, stand out for Jesus! :-)

  8. This post had me laughing inside, Leah! I completely sympethize with you...

    I'm 17 years old--
    The oldest child.
    And I'm only 5'1".
    My 15 year old sis
    passed me up a few
    years ago. My 13
    year old sister did
    too. And now my 11
    year old sis is soon
to pass me up as well!
    We'll see if she does.
    LOL! :D

I do get a lot of comments from people about my height (mostly in a loving way, though ;). But I've actually gotten quite used to being short. It's funny because whenever I wear heels I actually feel awkward because of how tall I am. I feel like I need to sink lower. lol

Anyway, there are some perks to being the short one... people have always told me I'll appreciate looking younger once I'm older! So, do your best to enjoy it! It really isn't that bad. ;)

    Blessings,
    ~ Taylor

  9. I'm the oldest, and my sister who is three years younger that me, is just shy of my height! I've always been on the shorter side, and I know how you feel! Once while getting my haircut, the hairdresser thought I was 11 or 12. Let's just say she was 4-5 years off...

  10. He leah,I know how it feels, I'm 1.65 and I'm 19. I have two sisters who are taller than me. I look younger than my age :(.

Yet, I know that The Lord created me that way.
    God bless

  11. Thanks for all your comments! It is fun to see how tall every one of you are. Short or tall I love you all!

God made us all different, and that the special part about all of us.

Height really isn't that important, and I am sure as I get older I will feel better about my height. :-)

    Blessings to you all!

  12. Hello!

I just found your blog from Annie at "Daughter of His Grace". I am "following" you, I would enjoy to hear from you on my blog too!

I am now 5'3" people are always saying how tall I am, (actually they add quite often that most of it is legs). That is ok with me though, for a while it bothered me that my legs were so long and skinny, but now I think it is just fine!

I hope to hear from you on my blog!

    Lydia

  13. Actually, what I think would be much worse is towering over other people especially if you're sort of shy(like me). I'm 5 feet 7 inches and taller than my older sister and I'm only 12.
Don't worry, it's good to be short.
    Love in Christ,
    Beth
