Modesty

Modesty is more than just your outward apperance or your actions on the outside. It's most importantly about God and you. It is about what's in your heart and who you truly are on the inside. You might have standards of your character or standards on what you are wear. You might wear skirts above the knee, below the knee, or below your ankle, You might wear turtle necklines, square necklines or v-necklines.

But the main reason that you should be dressing in a modest way is to glorify God. The bible tells us to dress modestly and to act accordingly. (1 timothy 2:8-10) This verse tells us that God is wanting us to dress in modest clothing which is right for godly woman. So again, we should dress in a way that will please God. Our standards should not only be ones that reflect away from ourselves but should be standards that God would be glorified with.

1 Samuel 16:7

But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

What are some your own thought on modesty? :-)

  1. I agree. Modesty seems to be a very subjective issue, even in the church. It's another one of those personal convictions that can cause dissention if we let the devil get a foothold. Good post.

    Mrs. Meggan,

Yeah... It seems to be so controversial. But it is an influential issue around Christians and the world, in all aspects of the word and what it means between God and us.

    Blessings,
